What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the insertion of very thin filiform needles. This means they are almost less than half a hair width, and with no tube.

It is a therapy of Chinese Medicine that was developed along the last 3000 years of clinical experience.  It has not stopped researching and today we know why and how it works biologically. The WHO considers Chinese Traditional Medicine the most effective and prevalent medical system after western allopathy.

Acupuncture is one of several therapies Traditional Chinese Medicine has to regain and maintain health.

  • Pain Relief: Acupuncture is commonly used for managing various types of pain, such as back pain, joint pain, headaches, and migraines.

  • Stress Reduction: Many individuals find acupuncture to be relaxing and stress-reducing, which can have positive effects on overall well-being.

  • Improved Sleep: Acupuncture may help improve sleep quality and alleviate insomnia in some individuals.

  • Enhanced Immune Function: Some studies suggest that acupuncture may have a positive impact on the immune system, potentially boosting its function.

  • Reduced Inflammation: Acupuncture may contribute to the reduction of inflammation in the body, which is associated with various chronic health conditions.

  • Regulation of Hormones: Acupuncture is believed to influence the release of certain hormones, potentially helping to regulate menstrual cycles and alleviate symptoms of hormonal imbalances.

  • Improved Digestion: Acupuncture may aid in improving digestive function and relieving symptoms of conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

  • Headache and Migraine Relief: Acupuncture is often used as a complementary therapy to reduce the frequency and intensity of headaches and migraines.

  • Support for Mental Health: Some individuals report improvements in mood, anxiety, and depression symptoms after undergoing acupuncture treatments.

  • Adjunctive Cancer Care: Acupuncture is sometimes used alongside conventional cancer treatments to help manage treatment-related side effects such as nausea, pain, and fatigue.
